Rivian and Volkswagen Announce EV Software Partnership
In an unusual agreement between competitors, Rivian and Volkswagen announced last week that they're entering into a $5 billion EV software partnership. The two automakers are facing different challenges in the EV space, and the ostensibly win-win deal will give Rivian a cash infusion while helping VW solve some of its tech problems.

Glacier's Going-to-the-Sun Road Is Open for the Season
Glacier National Park's Going-to-the-Sun Road is a highlight for many roadtrippers, but when the high-elevation road will open for the season is always a gamble. As of late June, the road is now fully open to vehicles, but anyone entering from the west side of the park will need an advance reservation to drive it.

...And So Is Teton Pass (With a Detour)
After a chunk of Wyoming Highway 22 collapsed on June 7, road crews have been hard at work on the road, which connects the popular tourist town of Jackson with Idaho's Teton Valley. As of last Friday, the highway is once again open to traffic, with an added detour around milepost 12.8.

EVs and Clean Energy Are Lowering Global Oil Demand
Global oil demand is expected to peak around 2030 and then start leveling off, according to a new report by the International Energy Agency. While the demand for oil has been decreasing in many countries for the last several decades, countries like China and India are still seeing an increase. The projected global decrease is largely due to electric vehicle adoption and the rise of clean energy technologies.

EVs Are Becoming More Affordable
One reason keeping consumers from making the switch to electric vehicles has been the high price tag of EVs. But as a result of demand cooling, EV prices are in some cases getting closer to those of gas-powered vehicles—especially after you factor in federal tax credits. Used EVs have dropped in price even more.
