Reports Show Increases in RVing Camping, Glamping, and Canadian Campers

45 Million RVers are Hitting the Road This Summer

According to a new survey by the RV Industry Association, 45 million Americans are planning to travel by RV this summer. Some of the benefits of RV travel, according to respondents, include the freedom of the open road, the comfort and convenience of traveling in a home on wheels, and affordability.

RVshare Renters Are Craving Time in Nature

Peer-to-peer RV rental platform RVshare recently surveyed its users and found that 86% are planning to travel this summer, with more than half stating that they’re craving time outside. With a focus on May as Mental Health Awareness Month, the survey found that time outside made people feel more relaxed and in a better mood, and decreased anxiety and depression.

First-Time Campers Are Drawn to Glamping

Campsite finder app The Dyrt’s 2024 Camping Report was released earlier this year, and it found that almost 8 million people went glamping in 2023, 42% of whom were first-time campers. As glamping keeps growing in popularity, the report found that campgrounds are taking notice and expanding their glamping offerings.

10 Million Households in Canada Identify As Campers

As part of its annual Camping and Outdoor Hospitality Report, Kampgrounds of America (KOA) released some key findings on Canadian campers. As of last year, more than 10 million households in Canada identify as campers, which, according to the report, is 65% of the population. Canadian campers also tend to skew younger, with 44% under the age of 35.
