Electric Outdoors is Hiring Interns for Summer 2024 Pilot

EO Canopy

Product Development Intern

  • $14/hour

  • Hybrid, based in Marquette, Michigan

  • Internship (part-time, 20 hours a week, 12 weeks from June/July to August/September)

  • U.S. work authorization required

Electric Outdoors, in partnership with Innovate Marquette SmartZone, is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as an independent contractor for a 12-week duration, bringing expertise and dedication to our project. 

During the summer of 2024, the EO team will deploy four EO Canopies in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to pilot a new, curated outdoor experience. Electric Outdoors is looking for college students with a focus on product, business, engineering, marketing, or computer science and a passion for the outdoors to help with the implementation and testing of the Canopy units and full camping experience. 

Interns will gain hands-on experience working on an exciting new product as well as assisting with business and go-to-market plan development. They will facilitate communication with different stakeholders throughout the ecosystem, get to spend time outdoors, and learn skills useful for future entrepreneurship. 

Responsibilities 

  • Assist in all aspects of successfully launching a sustainable glamping experience. This can include deploying Canopy units, testing assets in real-life conditions, testing connectivity and charging systems, and curating and fine-tuning user experiences.

  • Analyze and report on potential impact of Canopy in the local communities, such as job creation and economic growth.

  • Gather data and assets for Electric Outdoors and its partners. 

  • Gather suggestions and feedback from all stakeholders and help prioritize product action plan for market roll-out. 

  • Assist in developing marketing, PR, and brand awareness efforts. 

Desired qualifications

  • A passion for sustainability and being in the outdoors. You have some personal experience with outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, biking, fishing, or similar. 

  • Academic focus on product, business, engineering, marketing, or computer science. 

  • A team player who is eager to learn new skills. 

  • Ability to travel to or stay in the Upper Peninsula.
